Hello! Hope you have eaten some delicious things this week. I am currently on an Olipop kick, the classic grape flavor in particular. I love carbonation and it just hits all the notes you want with out the cloying sweetness of grape soda.

Also, apologies that today’s newsletter is going out later than I hoped it would: I am in the middle of layouts for my cookbook (which comes out next spring!) and it’s amazing how many little decisions need to be made before it can be shipped off to the printers. I will hopefully have a pre-order link for the book very soon!!

Washington, DC has been on my brain a lot lately — partly because of recent politics, partly because I received an invite to the Vice President’s Diwali party (which I declined), and partly because it is one of the best food cities of all time! I also received a very funny message from chef Michael Rafidi about someone with my name (or pretending to be me) dining at his restaurant Yellow this week:

Please be nice if you pretend to be me!

Hope they enjoyed the ice cream!

People are always shocked when I say that DC is one of my all time favorite food cities. But it is a city filled with powerhouse restaurants cooking a really diverse array of foods. It’s a great city for drinking and people watching, too. You could spend a week in DC and still not make it through ever place that feels special.

The city is also home to one of the best croissants in the country, some very good Indian food options, and the restaurant I wish was a national chain. It also is home to the bar that made me reconsider my firm anti-jello shot stance.

Alright, let’s get into it!
