Should Coffee Shops Be Allowed To Charge for Alt Milks?
Plus: the most unhinged protein shakes, wtf is "swalty", and more
Hello! I know the name of this newsletter is Tap Is Fine!, because generally at restaurants, tap water is fine for me. I don’t tend to ever order bottled water for a multitude of reasons, the two largest ones being cost and environmental factors.
But, I am also an admitted bubble head. If I see a bottle of my favorite, super carbonated water on the menu (the kind where the bubbles hurt!), Agua de Piedra, it’s one of the few exceptions where Tap is not fine. I wrote about this obsession for Bon Appetit and you can check it out here.
There are many great carbonated waters out there — I wrote about Singha from Thailand in this very newsletter — but Agua de Piedra remains at the top for me. I have even tried to replicate the intensity of the bubble with an at home carbonator but without much success. Would love to know what your favorite carbonated water is in the comments!
Also some incredible news: the best candy ever, aka PERCY PIGS which have long only been available at Marks & Spencer in the UK are going to be available in the US for the first time starting March 30 at Target stores across the country. They are the most adorable pig-shaped gummies (that also happen to be vegan!) and I demand that when anyone I know goes to the UK they bring me back at least two packs.
Okay! Let’s dive into today’s newsletter which will look at:
