Today’s newsletter is going to be a bit of a quick one! I am on the other side of a move, the part where you have to deal with all the unpacking and the figuring out of new systems, and furniture that is no longer perfectly calibrated to your living space. I think I would be more supportive of AI if someone could find a way to make moving even 50 percent less miserable.

The biggest pain point I am facing now is the downsizing of my pantry even though my kitchen and the sheer amount of counter space in the new place is dramatically larger. I will forever miss the super efficient walk-in pantry in my last apartment that was both deeply organized but somehow always bursting with beans, tubes of tomato paste, seven types of rice (at minimum), several types of noodles and pasta, so much olive oil, too many jars of good pasta sauce , mushroom broth from brodo (elite broth!) and a wild range of vinegars. I gave away so much before packing — I am down to only two kinds of soy sauce! — but it still doesn’t feel like enough! I wish I could be a kitchen minimalist.

Being between houses means I have eaten more takeout that I can care to admit. In the rotation:

— pad see ew from Sticky Rice
— A veggie burger from Cassells (my favorite one)
— an iced vanilla latte and bean and cheese and egg burrito from GGET
— an iced mocha and garlic and cream cheese bagel from Calic
— terrible paneer biryani from Paradise Biryani Pointe (got mild, and it was still so spicy to the point of being inedible)
— a breakfast quesadilla with cheddar and eggs and peppers and a very good acai smoothie from Organico
— a veggie pizza and parmesan bites from Domino’s
— pad thai and fried rice from Pa Ord Noodle
— a sad sad sad sad sandwich (and sun chips) from Subway

I am very ready to be settled into my new kitchen. First thing I plan to make? Not sure yet, I am very very tired. Would love any suggestions!
