Yes! And when the menu doesn’t make its way around the table it delays the drink order, making the second or third drink less likely. I would bet it costs the restaurant more in lost sales than it saves in paper costs.
Another yes! We recently dined at a small plates place that requested we order all our dishes at once. Our server assured us they would course things out and went so far as to say, “you can trust me.” We all know what happened next.
Bring at least two alternatives (in the same price range) when coming to tell me you are 86 the bottle of wine that I ordered (and we have already finished our first course waiting for it). Don't just show up with an apology and the wine list.
Bring spoons for everyone at the table even if only one person has ordered the soup and bringing proper implement and utensils so that we can share everything
If there are x guests at the table, bring x croquettes, not the number that is usually served in a portion - or at least offer when we order. happy to pay for the extra so that everyone can have their own!
We recently dined at Bavette’s in Chicago and while I can’t point to a single, specific thing, when we left we remarked that we couldn’t remember a recent dinner out where we felt so taken care of. Our server was excellent, dishes were coursed out, drinks were served quickly, pacing was excellent and we never felt rushed. 10 out of 10. No notes.
I love when wine is chilled appropriately! (And hate when red wine is slightly warm—ick.) Also appreciate when restaurants offer coat check, hooks, stands, or baskets for your handbag/coat—nothing worse than your coat touching the grimey floor under the bar top.
Why do we get one drink menu for a table of 6?!
Scrambling to make sure it gets all the way around the table before the waiter comes back to take the order is a small stress we don’t need.
More drink menus pls!
this is such a good one!!

A table that is big enough to hold all the dishes, if served family style, or provides a small side table to hold them.
table tetris is the worst

I have like 20,000 words to say (all DEROGATORY) about the tiny water glass trend 😩
The photos from your Food and Wine feature look fabulous! The food looks SO good : )
thank you!!
I love when they send enough pens because that means if it's a cool pen, I can snag it for my collection.
