Love this! It is so fun to be a hobbyist/amateur and share what you’re doing and learning about but I feel so much pressure to write constant disclaimers that I am *not* an expert
Love this post, Khushbu! Interesting to note that in France, where the word "amateur" is from, there are two uses for the word. One is pejorative, as in "C'est an amateur." Oh, he's just a rank amateur. The other is "Il est un amateur de musique," meaning "He's a music lover." In fact, I feel like in French, I hear that second usage -- the positive sense of "amateur" -- much more often. It's nice to be an amateur and have a passion!
You said my thoughts out loud! You touched on this, but influencers with a large audience have a unique opportunity to take their audiences on their learning journey with them. I'd argue they have a duty to their audience to take them along, instead of claiming to be an expert when they clearly aren't.
